Thane Mayor Post Reserved for SC; Shiv Sena (Shinde Faction) Likely to Nominate Candidate

Thane: The post of Mayor in the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) has been reserved for a Scheduled Caste (SC) candidate for the current term. In the recently concluded civic elections, seven corporators from the SC category have been elected, including five women and two men.

With a clear majority in the municipal house, the Shiv Sena led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde is set to nominate the Mayor from within its own party. The party’s strong numerical position makes its nominee a near certainty for the top civic post.

From the Shiv Sena (Shinde faction), prominent SC corporators who are being considered for the Mayor’s position include Padnma Bhagat, Vanita Ghorge, Vimal Bhoir, Ganesh Kamble, and Dr Darshna Jankar. The final choice is expected to be made after internal discussions within the party.

Political circles in Thane are closely watching these developments, as the ruling faction deliberates on the final name for the Mayor’s post. An official announcement is expected in the coming days.
