In
all probability you must have heard or read
of microdermabrasion. It's an exfoliation technique,
which has been doing the rounds

Nothing
reveals your age better than your skin.
Your skin is a mirror to your inner beautiful
self and you need to take good care of
it.
|
in
Europe for close to fifteen years. In US however,
it's become a craze only recently.
Most
women tend to fuss a lot over their skin probably
because it's the biggest giveaway. If it's the
natural process of ageing that you wish to do
away with, then it is a different matter.
However,
according to Mrs. Dolly Kapoor who heads a beauty
clinic in Delhi, "Increasingly, youngsters
seem to be showing signs of ageing much faster
than needed. Reason could be many. But you could
sum it up in one word-lifestyle."
Microdermabrasion
for problem free skin
Young people are often prone to problems such
as acne, pigmentation, discolouration, wrinkles,
etc. Let's take wrinkles as a case. In older people
it occurs as the skin starts to lose its elasticity.
But present day lifestyle makes one take to junk
food, drink less water (preferring beverages and
colas to water), pollution and exposure to sun.
All this tends to lend unfound damage to your
skin, which might not be repairable.
There
are a lot of options available from facials, laser
resurfacing and peels to injection of Botox. Microdermabrasion
is one such option where fine crystals (generally
discarded Ruby and Diamond particles or aluminium
oxide crystals) are sprayed on the face (or the
affected area). With a converse suction force
the dead skin surface is peeled out.
Practice patience for desired results
Many would want you to believe that it's instant
i.e. you get a dermabrasion treatment done during
lunch and carry on with life normally. Technically
it is possible, but a redness of face is imperative.
Remarks Mrs Kapoor, "Even if you were to
go in for a simple facial, redness is unavoidable.
If you suffer from an acute problem such as pigmentation
requiring several sittings, you can't go out in
the sun. Maybe in the western sense, it is possible.
But in a hot country like India, its just not
feasible."
Limitations of the treatment
According to Mrs. Kapoor, "this is an
exfoliation technique. It can't work on pimples
despite all claims. For people with thin skin,
its best avoided because they could bleed. Compared
to light skinned people, those with darker skin,
have a clear advantage. In more advanced treatments,
people should avoid any kind of heat source-the
kitchen, sauna, steam and the like. If they
have to venture out, they must wear some kind
of a sun block cream."
Microdermabrasion
tones facial muscles and nourishes it, if followed
by proper facial. And contrary to claims it
is a bit painful. But the results are there to
be seen.
So,
the next time you think of a skin treatment or
just a plain facial, this could definitely be
a feasible option.
