Make-up for Eyes, Nails, Lips & Face

Eyes:

Your eyes are the most expressive part of your face. The right make up can dramatise them and create a mood of poetry or mystery. Romance or passion.

Women generally have lovely eyes. But your eyes can look far more beautiful. With a shadow of colour on the lids. A hint of eyeliner. A close brush with mascara.

Let us share the secrets of how to make your eyes your most attractive feature. How to apply eyeshadow to give our eye a touch of glamour.

An eyeliner for that wide eyed look. Mascara to make it appear that you were born with those gorgeous lashes.

(You could use them all at one time for a dramatic effect. Or singly for a subtle look.) If you plan to use all of them together, for best results, apply your eye make up in the given order.

- First eyeshadow.
- Then eyeliner followed by the mascara.

The eyedefiner pencil can be used independently or in place of the eyeliner. Follow the same steps even if you wear contact lenses or spectacles.

Start your eye make up with the shade of eyeshadow that compliments your overall colour scheme. Work both upper eyelids, step by step.

Use the applicator and cover the entire eyelid with the lighter shade. Now, take some of the darker shade and make several dots on your eyelids.

Blend the darker shade towards the inner cover of the eye. Now use the highlighter just below the eyebrow line to give that glamorous look.

To apply eyeshadow below your lower lashes, use the edge of the applicator and draw a fine line, from the middle of your eye towards the outer corner. You could also use just one shade on your lids.

Eyeliner makes your eyes more attractive by giving sharper definition to the shape of your eyes, and making you appear larger and bolder.

When applying an eyeliner, draw a line close to your lashes, from the inner corner of your eye to the outer corner. Your hand may seem a little unsteady at first, but with practice, you'll soon be able to apply the eyeliner on your lower lashes too.

Rest your palm against your chin for a more skilful application. Use a thin line during the day and a thicker line at night.

Whatever the shape of your eyes, mascara helps your lashes appear longer, thicker and more alluring. You can wear a mascara day or night wihout anyone knowing your little secret of your sweeping natural looks.

To apply a mascara hold the applicator wand in such a way that's most comfortable to you. Stroke on the mascara from the inner to the outer corner of the lashes. From the roots to the tips.

Now use the tip of wand and apply on your lower lashes. Brush on 2 or 3 coats, allowing it time to dry between each application. Use the tip of the wand to seperate your lashes.

The eyedefiner gives our eyes a soft, subtle and smudged look. Hold the pencil as you would hold the eyeliner brush and apply in the same manner.

The eyedefiner can be used as a khol pencil (kajal), or an eyeliner. It is better meant for women who do not have a steady hand in using liquid eyeliner.

Face:

Before you apply make up you must start with a
clean canvas. It is important that you cleanse tone and moisturise your face and neck as this helps you prepare for a proper make up.

Foundation makes your skin look clearer, healthier and acts as a base for other colour cosmetics. It also hides flaws and protects your skin from the sun, wind and pollution.

Choose your liquid make up according to your skin tone from the variety of shades available. Foundation comes in different variants, the popular ones are described here for you.

Liquid Make up comes either in a bottle or in a tube. Choose the one appropriate for you.

Apply small dots of liquid make up on your forehead and blend quickly.
Using the same process, dot it on each part of the face, and blend it with long light strokes in an outward direction. Over the outer corners of your face, the jawline, neck, eyelids and lips.

Blending correctly is important to give your face a natural look.

A Wet & Dry Compact gives you for the first time two benefits in a single product the natural matte finish of a powder when used dry and the gentle silkiness of creme when used wet.

Use it dry: Ideal for a light day look.
- Glide the applicator gently over the compact.
- Apply to your neck and face using downward strokes.
- Blend evenly.

Use it wet: Ideal for a formal occasion.
- Wet the applicator with water and sqeeze out just so that the sponge is moist, without excess water.
- Glide the moist applicator gently over the compact.
- Apply to your face and neck using downward strokes.
- Use the applicator to blend evenly right upto your hairline.
- Remember to replace the moist applicator in the perforated space provided in the container. It will be perfectly dry for your next touch up.

Face powder / compact can be used by itself or patted over liquid make up. Pat the compact gently with a clean powder puff, on eyes, neck and face.

Remove the excess with a clean piece of cotton. Do not wipe the powder off your eyelashes. The powder serves as a base for your mascara.

Shake the puff after each use and keep the puff upside down - this makes your face compact last longer.

Carry the powder compact with you, it helps freshen your appearance, whenever you wish to.

Blushers add a touch of colour to your face and gives it more definition, more character.

Used correctly, it can give your face an illusion of length, or make it fuller. It is important to coordinate your blusher to the colour of your lipstick, nail enamel, eyeshadow and your clothes, so that you have a total harmonising effect.

Powder blusher is applied over liquid makeup and face compact, with the brush that comes with it. and then blended.

Cream blushers are applied with your fingertips, before you apply face powder, but after the liquid makeup.

The simple rule for applying blusher is to look straight into the mirror and apply blusher on your cheekbone, from under the center of the eye. Them blend towards the temple.

Different methods of blusher application can be adopted suitable for an individual face.

Lips:

Just like your eyes, your lips are th
e most striking feature of your face. surely we do not have to tell you what a dash of colour on your lips can do for you.

When choosing your lipstick, coordinate it with the most dramatic colour on your clothes. And of course your eye make-up and nail enamel.

A lipdefiner or lippencil/ lipliner helps giving proper and defined outine to the lips. It stops the lipstick from spreading outside the lipline. with the help of a lipliner you can get any desired lip shape. Define your lipoutline first with the lipliner and then fill in the matching lipshade.

How to Apply Lipstick:
The colour of your lips changes the shade of the lipstick. To get the original rich colour, blend liquid make-up on your lips before you apply lipstick. This helps in altering your lipline and makes your lipstick last longer.

To obtain a well defined lip line, use the pointed tip of you lipstick and outline your lipshape. Now take the flat surface of your lipstick and fill in the colour.

Thick Lips:
To make thick lips appear thin apply lipstick slightly inside the lipline.

Thin Lips:
To make thin lips appear thick, outline the lips along the lipline.

Asymmetrical Lips:
To emphasise a thinner lower lip, apply lipstick along the outer edge.

To make your lipstick last longer, apply liquid make up on lips. Then apply lipstick. Dab some powder over it. Apply lipstick again for finishing touch.

Nails:

Like your face your hands a
nd feet say a great deal about you. Having a perfectly made up face isn't enough if your nails are cracked, unshaped or if the nail polish is chipped. Clean shapely and polished tips and toes are an essential part of good grooming.

How to Apply Nail Colour:
Remove old polish from your hands and clean hands thoroughly. There should be no cream on your nails when you apply nailcolour.

It is recommended that you apply a single coat of Top and Base Coat first.
Then stroke the nail polish through the centre of the nail from base to tip.
Now stroke polish around base of nail without touching the skin and down one side of the nail.
Then stroke the polish down the other side of nail.

Wipe across tip of polished nail with thumb or tissue. This helps prevent chipping of nail enamel. When first coat of enamel is dry apply second coat. Apply the enamel quickly with long light strokes.

Tips to Remember:

- Be sure the enamel is thin enough to flow evenly and smoothly.
If enamel is too thick add 2 or 3 drops of thinner, hours before using.

- After application is completed, clean the tops of bottles and replace caps tightly.

- Avoid applying nail enamel under a fan.

- Apply 3 coats of frosted nail enamel and 2 coats of matte nail enamel for a perfect finish.

- Short broad nails will look more slender if you leave a narrow line at each side of the nail unpolished.
