of Ground Duty Branch Officers |

A ground duty branch officer is required to
perform a variety of duties like:
General administration.
Construction and maintenance of runway and accommodation.
Controlling the movement of aircraft.
Procurement and provisioning of equipment, ration
and clothing etc.
Disbursement of pay and allowances, financial
planning.
Creating educational facilities for betterment
of career prospects of personnel.
Unraveling the mysteries of weather for safe
aviation.
In
a nutshell, the Ground Duty Officer is a very
important element in the environs of the Air Force,
without whom the Air Force would be incomplete.

| Flying
Branch |
If you have ever imagined traveling at speeds
greater than that of sound, IAF offers you an
opportunity to do just that in one of it's highly
sophisticated flying machines like the MiG-23,
MiG-25, MiG 27, MiG-29, Mirage -2000, Jaguar or
the Su-30. For those who are keen to fly transport
aircraft, IAF gives you the best in the form of
IL-76, and AN-32, and in times to come, even more
sophisticated and futuristic transport aircraft.
IAF also offers an exciting career as a Helicopter
pilot. Some of the latest IAF Helicopter are MI-17,
Mi-26 and MI-35. In theses helicopters, you not
only get the excitement of flying over tree tops,
landing in small remote areas unexplored so far,
but also engage in war by way of flying gun-ship
helicopters in close support of the army, evacuation
of causalities, Para-dropping troops in forward
posts and lifting relief supplies duringa natural
calamities.
A Flying Branch officer, after being commissioned
in the rank of flying officer, starts flying as
a Squadron pilot. With experience and seniority,
the role and responsibilities also increase, whereby
one may become a Flying instructor, a Flight Commander
or Commanding Officer of a Squadron/ Station.

Aeronautical Engineering Branch
IAF
today holds some of the most sophisticated aircraft
and equipment on its inventory. This complex
and most advanced technological holding requries
skilled engineering staff to maintain them at
highest level of operational readiness.
The Engineering Officer is required to deal
not only with aircraft, but also its Weapons
System, Communication System
and other support systems. The Engineers maintain
one of the most sophisticated electronic networks,
which is necessary to keep the IAF in peak operational
readiness. As an Engineering Officer, one is
also required to possess managerial skills of
a very high order to muster resources in respect
of the entire technical facilities of IAF right
from ground to air.
An Engineer enters the Air Forces in the rank
of a Flying Officer and is directly involved
with engineering activities. As one grows in
service and gains experience, one is entrusted
with additional responsibility of supervision
and training the juniors. The IAF plans your
career accordingly by offering you various courses
and high ring qualifications in India and abroad
so that you are able to fulfill your aspirations
as the best in the field.
