Bisou Bisou? Versace? Imitation!
No just plain ol' blueys and mom's sari.
That's exactly what you're going to say when your friends ask you where you got your really cool jeans. So go ahead and!

Spruce up your Wardrobe

You can have a ball and end up looking very hip with these quick tips on how to revamp those dirty ol' blueys. Yes, we promise you freedom from boring jeans by showing you how to use mom's moth-eaten sari to your advantage. Indiawali tailoring class begins now.

INGREDIENTS

  • A yard or two of an Indian sari border
(Available at: Mom's wardrobe or Kala Niketan)
  • Beads, lots of them in all colours and sizes
    (Available at any local market)
  • Thread
  • Needle
THE SARI BORDER

STEP 1:
Identify the victim:
i.e. the sari, you are going to use. Make sure your mother doesn't mind having you cut up one of her vintage saris. If she does, you can (also) buy brocade pieces from material shops, they're not very expensive if you find the right shop and bat your eyelashes prettily.

STEP 2
Cut up the victim:
Now we're getting downright gruesome. Decide what kind of a border you want. You can have a thick border (5-6 inches) or a thin discreet border (1-2 inches). It depends a lot on your colour scheme.

STEP 3
Stitch up the victim:
Alright, if you're anything like me, you better ask for assistance on this one. Mother, Ayah, grandmom or even an extremely dextrous friend will do. Stitch on the strip carefully leaving about half an inch near the bottom.

STEP 4
Bead up the corpse (no longer the victim, it's quite dead by now):
Take plastic beads, which match your sari border. They should be of at least three sizes. Make little strands of the beads with the biggest at the end (make around 30-35). Now stitch each one onto the bottom of your jeans separately with a gap of 1 cm.(it should look like an uneven fringe).

Other tips:

SLIT WIDE OPEN
If you are looking for an unusual style then try cutting your jeans along the side seam right till the slit is in line with the back pocket.(if that's a little high for you, then you can stop at knee-level). You now have jeans, which keep you cool but make you look hot.

EMBROIDER YER BLUES
This is only for (those of you) people who KNOW how to embroider.Unless you have some idea of what you are doing, it's quite pointless because you'll only ruin your jeans. Embroider flowers with vines, or any kind of design you want. You can stick to the bottom or even creep upwards till the mid thigh. You can also embroider on the waist region along the belt loops.

GHUNGROO JHATKA
Attach a string of ghungroos to either the pocket rims, or the bottom of your jeans to jingle your way through that dance floor. This will make you look fabulous and you'll also attract attention like a siren.

There you are, jeans, which will give the Tom Ford a complex. They don't have to be just jeans, you could work your way to pants for a chic bisou bisou look and yet not pay the price. Flaunt cause you've got the trendiest bottoms now and come back to us if you're still looking for more.
