Tips
For A Perfect Resume
About
2,000 unsolicited resumes arrive at offices every
week
and at least 90-95 per cent of the resumes are thrown
away because most people don't realize that a resume
has to get an applicant noticed.
Here
are some tips to make an impact with your resume:
- The
best way to start is, with your work experience.
Start from your current job to the first one. This
kind of a resume is the easiest for an employer
to read and grasp quickly.
- Emphasize
one job experience over another depending on the
position you're looking for
- Make
your resume simple, flowery language is not considered.
- Don't
fib about your job accomplishments.
Don't
volunteer wrong information on your own. Personal
directors look on such behaviour as a display of
questionable judgement and shady ethics.
- Take
lessons from the newspaper. The opening paragraph
in a news story always contains the most important
facts. You get the gist of the story within the
first couple of sentences. The least relevant part
appears at last.
- Be
precise and explanatory. Don't write long, boring
job descriptions.
Start
paragraphs with a verb and use action words. The
one's beginning with a consonant are preferred.
Use words like performed, participated, created,
developed, designed supervised, etc.
- Use
a brief section at the top of your resume to highlight
certain skills, goals and experiences.
-
Be precise about your job description and read it
thoroughly.
- Don't
squeeze your resume into a single page, if it doesn't
fit. Try and stick to a maximum of two pages...
