Mr.
C. Ramdasan
President of Rotary Club of Thane West
Tell
us something
about yourself & your business?
I am a professional who has spent more than 28 years
in the field of quality and related activities. A committed
social worker from my school days and could continue
all through, participated in all types of social activities
physically and financially within my means and planned
to continue the same in future.
Since when have you been associated with this club?
I joined Rotary Club of Thane West in 1993 when Rtn.
N. Kalyan was the Club President and Rtn. Ashok Mahajan
was the District Governor. In fact I am thankful to
Rtn. Kalyan who invited me to the Rotary plat from to
serve the community.
What
have been the achievements of your club since its inception?
This club was chartered in June 1972, with several industrialists
and senior executives from wagle Estate and Doctors
in and around Wagle Estate. Since then the club has
done several community projects such as Drinking Water
Projects, Environmental Protection, Medical Camps in
villages and schools, Assistance in money and materials
to school children, vocational training for school drop
outs, medical assistance to the handicaps, tree plantations,
besides several projects jointly with other clubs. Career
guidance and interview techniques are some of the projects
particular to College students.
What
is your motto/aim during your Tenure as the President
of the club?
Use time, talent and resources of the club to the benefits
of the society in general and less privileged community
in particular. We have ambitious projects for the rural
villages to benefit the community and children, covering
school education, awareness classes for the villages
on AIDS, Hygiene, Family Planning, Tree Plantation etc.
How
do you Demarcates your duties as a professional &
a Rotarian?
Service through Rotary I consider is a social obligation.
There is no demarcation of duty is required. The quality
of a true Rotarian will reflect in his day to day life
and one will find time however busy he is for his social
obligations because that is also a part of his job.
How
far your club has reached in its objective?
The needs of our community and society are so big. One
will not be able to feel that he achieved his objective.
The requirement is never ending one. If one can make
sure that we are on the right direction and doing everything
with in our reach we shall be happy.
Any
message for the Thaneites?
Thaneites to remember that this is not the time for
relaxation or negligence. We have to go a long way to
make Thane a city of pride and a place for happy, safe
and healthy living for all. Unitedly we can work for
that.
