Please tell us something about yourself .......
I am in teaching profession from June 1963. I like teaching. My father and mother were also teachers. I am proud of my teacher and students. Well- known Marathi critic Prof. Anant Kanekar and Prof. Ramesh Tendulkar (Sachin Tendulkar's father) and Prof. Madhu Dandawate (Ex-Union Railway Minister) were my Professors in Siddharth College.

I have B.Sc and M.Sc. Degrees from the University of Mumbai. I was a Member of the Board of Studies in Physics and Faculty of Science of the University of Mumbai for continuous 11 years.

Since when have you been associated with this college?
I have been associated with this college from June 1970 as the Head of the Physics Department. From May 1996 I have taken the charge of Principal.

What are the different courses offered by your institute?
There are 4 divisions of F.Y.J.C. Science and 4 divisions of S.Y.J.C. Science in our Junior College. Each division has intake capacity of 100. 3 divisions of First Year Junior College (i.e. F.Y.J.C.) are with Marathi and one with Hindi as second language. The medium of instruction is English.

The institute offers a 3 year Degree Course in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Statistics, Bomaby and Zoology. The college is affiliated to the University of Mumbai.

In the 4 divisions of First Year B.Sc about 600 students are admitted. Out of 4 divisions, two divisions are of Physics-Chemistry-Mathematics (PCM-Group) and one division each of Physics-Mathematics-Statistics (PMS-Group) and Chemistry-Botany-Zoology (CBZ-Group).

Ten students are admitted to M.Sc. Part-I and ten students for M.Sc. Part-II in Organic Chemistry. Out of 10 seats at M.Sc. Part-I, 3 seats are reserved for Bandodkar College students according to merit.

Our Chemistry Laboratory is recognized for admitting 5 students in M.Sc. by research. The Zoology Laboratory is recognized for M.Sc and Ph.D. Degrees for admitting 12 students. 5 seats are there in M.Sc. Botany by Research.

What is the criteria for selecting candidates for enrolling in your institute?
The admission at the entry pointsat F.Y.J.C. and F.Y.B.Sc are given according to the merit as directed by the Director of Higher Education and the Vice-Chancellor of the Mumbai University respectively

How is your institute different from other institutions?
Our college is the only single faculty Science College in the University of Mumbai and probably in the entire Maharashtra State. Our college is the leading college in the neighbourhood and in the Thane District.

Our is the only college having Internet connections in each classroom and ach laboratory. Fibre Optical line is laid on the Campus for this purpose

How do the courses offered by yor institution help students build a successful career?
The courses offered are popular and useful. The students have proved successful in so many fields.

Considering the demand, there should be at least two new colleges in the Thane City.
