Tell us something about yourself?
I am Suhas Apte. I am staying in Thane for the last 20 years. At present, I am with Nicholas Piramal India Limited as Vice President - Operations. I have done my Chemical Engineering from UDCT and a post-graduate course in Management from Bajaj Institute.

Since when have you been associated with this Club?
Since the last 15 years, I have been with the Rotary Club. I have held various positions in the Board.

What have been the achievements of your Club since its inception?
The Rotary Club of Thane (East) has many landmarks to its credit.

• Cancer Detection Camp
• Thalessemia Detection Camp
• Eye Check-up & Distribution of spectacles to the needy
• Free library for needy students
• Telephone booth to the physically challenged person
• Water Cooler donated to the police station
• Donation of big digital programmable alarm clock to the school
• AIDS Awareness in the slum area
• Polio Pulse
• Slumber Kits to the needy
• Finance Budget Analysis (yearly) through forum of free enterprises
• Entrepreneurship Seminar to the students
• Industrial Safety Exhibition Competition
• Tree Plantation
• SSC/HSC Toppers felicitation
• Vocational Service Awards
• Etc., etc.

What is your motto / aim during your Tenure as the President of the Club?
The main motto is v Increase in membership v Continuation of ongoing projects v Improving public relations to remove the misconcepts about Rotary v AIDS Awareness v Polio Pulse v Medical Check-up of Thane Central Jail Inmates v Improving the financial health of the Club through fund raising programme. v Advance Locality Management v Etc., etc.

How do you demarcate your duties as a professional & a Rotarian?
As a professional manager, I am expected to devote the whole day for company's objectives and this is enjoyable too. Being committed to upliftment of society through Rotary, I snatch the 25th hour of the day, every day, to this noble social cause.

How far your club has reached in its objectives?
We are absolutely on target as per the plans prepared before the beginning of this year. Any new projects proposed during the year are welcome and evaluated by the Board & Club for implementation.

Any message for Thaneites?
I do not want to give any messages. The time has come when enough awareness has been generated and the fearless action is required. The entire society should unite and fight against any event, which will damage the basic fabric of society. We are now in the phase where mankind is our business.
