Mr. K.V.Dixit
Dy Transport Manager, TMT.

Please tell us something about yourself......
Before joining Thane Municipal Transport Undertaking, I was working as a 'Branch manager', Bombay for M/s. Ghadge Patil Transports Pvt. Ltd., Luxury Bus Division, Bombay.

I am having last 30 years experience in transport industry and out of which last 25 years with passenger transport.

Since when have you been associated with the TMT?
Right from the beginning i.e. since 1988 I am associated with Thane Municipal Transport Undertaking and I am the 1st employee of TMT.

Since its formation, how long as TMT reached in serving the people of Thane?
Previously Thaneites were served by Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC), City Bus Division.

From 9th february 1989, Thane Municipal Transport Undertaking started with initial fleet of 28 buses and was serving for 52,199 passengers per day.

Today Thane Municiapl Transport Undertaking has crossed 250 buses and serving 2,19,615 passengers per day.

Also we have crossed Thane Municipal Border and serving Narpoli (Bhiwandi), Mira Road Station, Mulund (Bombay) and Dahisar Mori (Bombay-Pune Road).

What are your future plans to serve the Thaneites?
Recently we have introduced MIDI buses and also planning to have high carrying capacity, low floor buses and CNG buses too.

During Rickshaw strikes, how does the TMT cope up with the extra pressure?
During Rickshaw strike, first preference is given to long distance city passengers and normally with extra buses and additional frequency during peak hours we cope up with the extra pressure.

How far have the officials at TMT been able to solve the problems of Thane citizens?
For better service to the passengers recently TMT officials have been provided with wireless equipment and also to meet emergency officials have been provided vehicles too.

Regularly officers and supervisory staff is being trained on various counts at Central Institute of Road Transport (CIRT), Pune and also training / refresher programmes are arranged to upgrade the knowledge and understand and solve the problems of Thaneites.

Last year more than 50 officers, supervisory staff and employees of TMT had worked regularly two extra hours apart from their regular duty hours.

Any message for Thaneites?
If Thaneites wants more and more buses, they should use TMT buses and avoid illegal travel from private buses and also avoid unauthorised share rickshaw.

Also since TMT is providing more and more buses, Thaneites should stop using/purchasing personal mode of transport i.e. two wheelers/car, etc, so that environmental condition will be improved and also we will be saving valuable foreign currency on account of saving previous fuel.
