halyashree Hospital is located opposite the famous Ghantali devi mandir, in the heart of the city, at Ghantali devi road, Naupada, Thane.


It is owned and run by Dr. Dilip S.Patwardhan, who has done his M.S.(Master of Surgery) at Grant Medical College from the University of Bombay in 1979.


Dr. Patwardhan has 24 years of experience in the field of general surgery. He has worked in the field of Ultrasound at King’s College, London in 1985 , and in the field of Abdominal surgery at Cleveland Clinic, USA, in 1988-89

‘Shalyashree Hospital’ was first established in 1981 at Gandhi Chowk, Kulgaon (Badlapur), the area where no other hospital existed that time. The purpose of starting the hospital there was to make proper hospital facilities available in the area where they just did not exist. This place had round the clock service, pathology investigations, x-ray unit, sonography, laparoscopy, and most of the surgical, gynecological, obstetric and medical facilities for indoor patients, even in those days.

‘Shalyashree Hospital, Thane’ is operational since last two years. This place is unique in a sense that you won’t have a feeling of entering a hospital when you go there, rather you will feel you are going home. The place has serene, relaxing atmosphere, and every activity here takes place under personal guidance of the experienced surgeon.


Dr. Patwardhan is available any time for an emergency job even though the routine consulting hours are 10.00 to 1.00 in the mornings (except Wednesday and Saturday) and 6.30 to 9.00 in the evenings. Even though he is a general surgeon he has a vast experience of family practice involving diferent specialties in the medical field.


Almost 95 % of day to day problems can be solved at this hospital, irrespective of the specialty involved. Dr. Patwardhan’s work is readily assisted by his wife, Mrs.Mridul D.Patwardhan, who runs the pathology laboratory at the same place.

	Personalized care : It is a routine practice of medical and surgical consultants that the patients are seen once or twice in 24 hours by the consultant and rest of the things like starting i.v.drip, giving injections, changing dressings ets. Are left to the RMO and the staff. This is not the practice here. Everything which is directly concerned with the patient is personally taken care of by Dr.Patwardhan himself. So the patient can be completely relaxed and be assured of getting everything done in almost painless way. Special attention is given here to see that the patient doesnot have to suffer at all. To achieve this goal, not more than six indoor patients are admitted at a time.
	Extreme cleanliness and homely treatment : This has always been an obsession for Dr. and Mrs. Patwardhan since last 22 years of their hospital practice. Each patient is given daily breakfast which is prepared by Mrs. Patwardhan in her own kitchen! An excellent doctor-patient relationship exists here which has vanished from modern institutions.

	No removal of stitches after surgery : Dr. Patwardhan follows a special technique of suturing the skin after any surgery in which the suture material runs through the inner aspects of skin. No suture material is visible at the end of surgery and hence there is no question of removal of the stitches. Hundreds of his patients will vouch for that.
