Dr.
Vaidya 's pathology laboratory is known to people
in Thane from wayback in 1979.
With
usual update it has always remained modern & useful
diagnostic laboratory for patients in Thane &
surrounding suburbs Dr. ULHAS MOHAN VAIDYA
{MD (PATHOLOGY) DBP } is the laboratory director.
He has always strived to give the best possible results
in this laboratory & he has made efforts to give
this service not only during day but also at nights.
The
laboratory is located on M.G. road next to Punjab
National Bank near Telephone Exchange in Naupada Thane.
It has a trained staff, which works under supervision
of Dr. Vaidya. The laboratory is well equipped with
modern equipment. It has automated
Sweelab
cell counter
for hematology & automated HITACHI 704 for biochemistry
investigations. For emergency investigations the laboratory
utiliser withdraws dry chemist analyzer. Presently
laboratory is under process of complete computerization
So that the instrument will be interfaced the results
will be automatically printed.
The laboratory has very wide scope of investigations.
It accepts each & every test &most of the
work is done in house laboratories like Millennium
special lab at Dadar or Hinduja Hospital at Mahim.
The
biochemistry tests including various profiles like
Lipid profile, Liver profile, Renal profile etc. are
done here in Thane on totally automated analyzer Hitachi

Dr. Vaidya has been practicing histopathology for
last 20 years & has a reputation of diagnosing
biopsies for various reasons like cancers, tuberculosis
& other diseases. He has specialized in Fine Needle
Aspiration Cytology (FNAC) where he tries to obtain
cellular material from the swelling & analyses
them by doing cytology staining. It is a very simple
technique using just a needle & staining. No anesthesia
or elaborate preparations are required & there
are no side effects or problems after the procedure.
Though negative results have to be confirmed by biopsy
at a later date, positive results can give various
diagnosis like TB, cancer etc.
Dr.
Vaidya lab is also specialized in vaginal cytology.
This is a simple technique where a smear is taken
by a gynecologist. The laboratory stains & analyses
the slide so as to defect cervical cancer in female
at an early stage. It is advised that very woman should
get it checked yearly. To make it affordable the test
is charged only Rs. 150/- per patient.
The
laboratory is also equipped for testing HIV, hepatitis
B & hepatitis C. If the reports are not urgent
HIV test can be done in very economical rate of Rs.
150/- per patients.
The
laboratory opens at 7.00 A.M. in the morning &
is open up to 11.00 P.M. The continuous timings facilities
diabetics to come even in the afternoon & can
keep their usual lunch timings. The laboratory is
also open on Sundays to help office goers. The rates
of various investigations can be obtained on phone.
These are to be paid at the time of blood collection.
Dr. Vaidya has expanded his laboratory spectrum by
starting Millennium Special Lab at Dadar. It performs
all the special tests like thyroid etc. The laboratory
will soon have one more expansion at Pune.
