Pandit
Dattadas Chalke Maharaj a firm
believer in Dattaram Maharaj
was inspired by him from childhood
onwards. Maharaj Chalke was always
interested in serving people and
help them come out of their sufferings.
When Maharaj Chalke was young Mahaguru
Chaitanya Babaji welcomed Maharaj
to join their family and serve people
for their wellbeing. Maharaj Chalke
was taken to Khandala by the Mahaguru
and later returned to his house
six months later during Bhaubeej.
While at Khandala, Maharaj Chalke
was being transformed as a human
being and was freed from all his
sins. He then went towards North
India for 17 long years to carry
out a survey on the sufferings of
people around. He also completed
a Pradarshana around the
Narmada river, starting from
the Amarkunta. This Pradashana
was completed within 41 days to
2 months which usually is completed
by 6 months. After the pradarshana
Pandit Chalke came back and started
giving lectures about Kuldevta,
a goddess whom he believes a lot,
he also used to teach people about
respecting their parents and elders.
He also used to conduct Satsangs
(preach) and give lessons about
daily life improvements.
Shri Datta Maharaj was a
sanyasi from Gangapur, Karnataka.
Pandit Chalke, a devotee of Datta
Maharaj has built the Sree Gurudev
Datta temple for the people of Thane.
Everyday at 6pm there is an Aarti
performed after which there are
bhajans and other preachings done.
On every Thursdays and Saturdays
there are satsangs held in which
Maharaj Chalke preaches and also
teaches about the good things on
earth.
In
this mandir many festivals and occasions
are celebrated. Some of them are
as follows:
Datta Jayanti is celebrated
in the month of December.
Maharaj Chalke's birthday
is celebrated which falls on the
day of Ganesh Jayanti.
29th May is a big day for
the Saduka's as this was the day
when Maharaj Chalke had gone with
the Satguru.
During the month of Shravan,
Maharaj Chalke reads the Pothi
(Holy Book) and explains it to his
followers. The Nath Pantha's
(Manchitra and Gorikh Nath) the
one who has received the Nath
Diksha (a chain which is blessed
by the Maharaj and given to his
followers, but this is given only
to some followers and for some special
reasons) perform puja.
Guru Pournima one the most
important occasion in the Shri Datta
Gurudev temple is celebrated for
7 days and during these days which
is called as the Saptaha a chanting
is recited continuously. This is
the day when the Mahaguru gave Pandit
Chalke his paduka. The chant 'Digambara
Digambara Shripad Vallabh Digambara'
goes on for these 7 days. During
these days the Paduka is worshipped
by applying a mixture of Kastoori
and Chandan for 7 days. Aarti is
performed everyday in the morning
at 5a.m. and there is Annaseva -
food for all the people who attend.
On the last day Maharaj Chalke's
puja is performed.
Those
who attend these satsangs get
peace of mind and are free from
all their sins. The maharaj had
got a very small idol of Ganesh
which is called as Prasad Vinayaka
because it has now grown to
two inches. During the Guru Pournima
the temple is fully decorated with
flowers and lights which is really
a delight to our eyes. On the other
days like Thursdays and Saturdays
the whole Datta temple is decorated
with flowers. All these decoration
and other work expenses during the
time of festivals are done by Maharaj
Chalke without any funds raised.
For your life to be peaceful
and full of happiness
do
visit Shree Datta Gurudev once.
