"Feng Shui (pronounced as Fung Shui) is such a user friendly science and one can benefit so much from it that we want it to help as many people as possible", say Dimple Luniya and Meena Kapadia, Feng Shui consultants. Talking at a seminar held recently, the duo gaveout basic information about the science and explained the relevance and symbolism of the Feng Shui products.

Elements of Feng Shui

There are five main elements of Feng Shui. Namely:

• Wood
  
  
• Fire
  
  
• Water
  
  
• Metal
  
  
• Earth

A coordiantion of all these five elements ensures prosperity and well being in life.

Aspects of Feng Shui

There are eight aspects of Feng Shui. Namely:

Career  -- The direction of this aspect is North and its element is water. No fire element should be kept in this direction. For example, the gas stove in the kitchen should not be kept in the north. Water douses fire and on basic levels both the elements clash.

Marriage and relationship  -- The direction for this aspect is the SouthWest and its element is earth. Pictures of couples should be kept in this corner to enhance coexistence. No plants should be kept in this area. It's also known as the women's corner should have ceramic pots and urns kept in this corner.

Elders, family, health --- The direction for this area is the East and its element is wood. To maintain harmony and avoid clashes, no metal should be kept in this area. Colours like green and blue do well if used in this particular corner.

Finance  -- The direction of this area is SouthEast and the element is wood.

Center  -- The center of any house should be kept free of clutter, which does not mean that the rest of the house should be cluttered. Preferably, the center of any house should be empty and minimalist in furniture.

Luck -- The direction of this aspect is the NorthWest and its element is metal. This is the most important area in the house and also the area of the breadwinner. This area is very important for the man of the house. The bedroom or the kitchen should not be in this direction. If they are in this direction, then there are remedies to counter their ill effects.

Children  -- The direction of this area is the NorthEast and its element is metal. To enhance the effect of this area a globe could be kept there. A clear crystal hanging from a red thread could also positively affect the child.

Education -- The direction of this area is the NorthEast and its element is earth.

Fame and recognition  -- The direction of this area is the South and its element is fire. Displaying a sun shaped showpiece in the direction can activate this area further. Colours like pink, red, orange, and purple is beneficial.
