Aapko
Pehle Bhi Kahin Dekha Hai is a remake of two really
hilarious films Meet The Parents and Father Of The Bride
but it doesnt come anywhere close to half of the comedy
in these two films.
Om
Puri is a
widower staying in Canada with his elder sister Jiji
(Farida Jalal) and his daughter Paakhi (Sakshi). He
is too possessive of her. While he is out of town for
15 days, Paakhi meets Samar (Priyanshu Chatterjee) who
is a suspended cop from Mumbai in search of a criminal
hiding in Canada. And as it happens in every hindi film,
they fall in love at first sight. More like sing two
songs at first sight. Nevertheless, Om Puri comes back
to find Paakhi making declarations of love for Samar
much to his chagrin.
Jiji,
his neighbours and the whole world is for the match
except Om Puri. He keeps finding faults with him. Though
there is no given reason but Samar lies to the family
about his occupation and that becomes the twist in the
tale for all you care in the end.
The
film has some good music which is the first thing that
strikes you when you want to say something positive
about the film. but then you want to add there are too
many songs. The film is simple and could have been one
hell of a funny film if the screenplay had stayed to
the track but it deviated to the criminal police track.
Perhaps they had thought of a sad song situation and
didnt want to lose it.
Nevertheless
Om Puri is the best in this bland concoction yet he
could have been far far better had he given more meaty
scenes. Priyanshu is ok though his comic timing can
improve loads. Saakshi is a glam doll and looks really
good. Farida Jalal is funny.
The
film settles for an average fare and Aapko Pehle
Bhi Kahin Dekha Hai comes without a pun.
