Saathiya
is a production
which involves the biggest names in Bollywood. Produced
by Bobby Bedi on a Mani Ratnam creation, Directed by Shaad
Ali and Presented by Yashraj Films. It has music by none
other than A R Rahman and lyrics by Gulzar. Saathiya is
basically a remake of Mani Ratnam's original 'Alaipayuthey'
in Tamil. Madhavan and Shalini played the lead in the
original as against the current Bollywod heart throb Vivek
Oberoi and Rani Mukherjee in this Hindi version. Yashraj's
favourite Shahrukh is also playing a part in the Saathiya
for which Mani Ratnam had his favourite Arvind Swami doing
the job.
Saathiya
is a story of two lovers who had to face problem after
getting married. Suhani Sharma is a young medical practitioner,
played by Rani Mukherjee. Vivek Oberoi plays Aditya
Sehgal. Suhani's eyes stop at Aditya every time she
boards the train as a routine. Trying very hard to resist,
she develops feeling for Aditya. Though for Suhani 'Love
is for people who had nothing to do'. The duo run away
and get married. But the path of their love life is
not that smooth. A tragic event separates the lovebirds.
The incident proves to be a turning point in their lives.
Aditya leaves no stone unturned to know the whereabouts
of her beloved. He calls her sister, friends, even the
hospital, but in vain.
As
for Suhani, for whom, people thought she had a stone
heart. She had a lot to do in her life, pediatrics,
house surgery, catching trains
But she falls in
love; maybe because of the train she took. She saw him
laugh loud, the way he looked, the mischievous grin,
the jokes et al
Even she did not know until she
got separated that she loved him so much that she can't
live without him
Finally
Aditya gets going to find his beloved, saathiya, but
has his saathiya found someone else?
