History
Established on
14th October 1975, by Sri Ma, the School aims
to educate and conduct classes for the poor and
downtrodden children of th e
slum areas. It runs under the aegis of the Sri
Ma Trust, and is a private non-aided, government
recognised institution.
The
school since its inception, has made rapid progress
in providing sound and liberal education.
This
is proved by the fact that starting from its first
batch (1987), it's students have shown excellent
results in the SSC Board Examinations. The result
has been consistent between 97-100%.
Objective
The School's
main aim is to impart an integrated education.
By this, it strives to develop the mind, body
and spirit of the student. The School endeavors
to impart to its students, moral, spiritual and
physical training in order to promote socio-economic
and cultural growth. It also aims at moulding
the students' character in keeping with the national
ideals of self reliance, service and renunciation.
The School has suitably designed educational programmes
which help it to realise its objectives.

Admissions

Admission
to the School is open to students of all and every
religion. The child should be minimum 2 1/2 years
of age for admission to L.K.G. Prior to admission,
the students are subjected to a small interview
along with their parents.

Fee
Structure
For the Pre Primary section, the monthly fees
are Rs. 220/- as Tuition fee and Rs. 40/- as Computer
fees. For the Primary and Secondary sections,
the fees per month are, Rs. 220/- as Tuition fees
and Rs. 50/- as computer fees.
Free-ships
are also offered to students who might have economic
constraints, in which case the fees are totally
waived. Meritorious students and those excelling
in sports and other activities are also given
concession in fees. This applies to both boys
and girls.

Affiliation
Sri Ma Bal Niketan High School is a co-educational
institution running classes from LKG to class
X. It also holds classes for class XI meant only
for girls.
The
School is affiliated with the Maharashtra State
Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education.
Special
Subjects
Computers have been incorporated as an integral
part of their curriculum. Apart from this the
School syllabus also includes Yoga, Value Education,
Stotra Recital and various Cultural Activities.
During the cultural activities period, children
are taught prayers and Subhashitas. These are
taken from the institution's own publications.
The morning assembly also includes stotra recitals,
which are changed periodically.
Examinations
& Promotions
To assess the academic performance of the students,
the School conducts regular tests and exams throughout
the year. Apart from these, the class teacher
also holds a number of preparatory tests based
on the Board Examination pattern to prepare students
for the S.S.C. exams. Promotion to higher classes
is based on the performance of the student in
a whole year's tests and exams.

Computer
Center
Initiated in 1991, the Sri Ma Computer Center
is an integral part of the School curriculum.
With 20 computers, the centre is self contained
and fully functional. The School ensures regular
upgrading of the facilities in order to keep abreast
of the latest developments. The computers are
connected through the Local Area Network (L.A.N.)
and Internet facilities are also available. Computer
education is offered from K.G. to class X. The
centre is fully equipped for Desk Top Publishing
(D.T.P.) training as well.
Library
The School library is well stocked with books
pertaining to the syllabus as well as other general
reading material. It has a qualified Librarian
to help the students to find the book of their
choice.
Science
Laboratory
Well equipped Science laboratories with the latest
equipments are there for the students to use.
The students are encouraged to ask questions and
experiment, so that they can have a better understanding
of the subject. Qualified teachers are there to
guide and assist the students.

Project Top |

The
Sri Ma Trust has acquired 7 acres (approximately)
of land in Patlipada, Thane. It plans to utilise
this land in the field of education and social
welfare. The School plans to build a a Home for
Senior Citizens, a School and Home for Special
Children, a Vocational Training and Rehabilitation
Centre, a Junior and Degree College with a hostel
for girls, a Hostel for Working Women, a Community
Hall and a school with hostel facilities for both
boys and girls.
All these activities will form a part of the proposed
campus to be called as Sri Ma Vidyanagari. The
Trust has also purchased another plot at Pimpri,
near Pune, to set up another Sri Ma Centre.

Jog Memorial Scholarship
A
cash award of Rs. 1000/- is distributed among
the top three students scoring the highest marks
in the S.S.C. Board Examination.
P.S.V. Memorial Scholarship
A
cash award of Rs. 500/- and Rs. 300/- is awarded
to the students securing the highest marks in
classes VIII, IX & X.
S.V.K. Iyer Memorial Scholarship
A
cash award of Rs. 500/- is given to the top two
students securing the highest marks in English
in classes VIII and IX and in the S.S.C. Board
Examination.
Smt. Radha Sethuraman Scholarship
A
cash award of Rs. 300/- is given to the student
securing the highest marks in Mathematics in the
S.S.C. Board Examination.
Sri Sethuraman Scholarship
A
cash award of Rs. 300/- is given to the student
securing the highest marks in Science in the S.S.C.
Board Examination.
Kishore Chhabria Memorial Scholarship
Given
to any deserving student who might face economically
constraints (waivement of School fees).
Smt. Savitribai Phule Scholarship
Given
to deserving girl students, facing economic constraints
under the adoption scheme (waivement of School
fees).

Activities

Besides
academics, the School initiates various activities
which serve to develop the all round skills, aptitudes
and attitudes of the chil dren.
Value Education has been made compulsory to achieve
this aim. Cultural activities form an integral
part of the School's curriculum. Students are
given regular coaching in Yoga and meditation
by an experienced faculty.
Scout/Guide
The Sri Ma Scout/Guide unit of the School involves
itself with various social service activities.
The children participate regularly in the Social
Forestry Programme of the government and plant
trees to preserve and enrich the environment.
The Scouts and Guides have also won prizes in
'Kharikamai'.
Road
Safety Patrol
Established in 1995-96, the Road Safety Patrol
(R.S.P.) is another activity which involves student
participation. Under this, the students work to
educate people about safety rules and aid the
traffic police in traffic management.
Other
Activities
The School also has an actively operational Science
Club, which undertakes many activities. These
activities are aimed at developing a scientific
temper among the children. Students from all the
classes (K.G. onwards), hold an Annual Science
Exhibition. In this exhibition, the students prepare
various projects, which are demonstrated and explained
to all the visitors. The children are also taken
on regular visits to science institutes and industries.
Every year the children of classes VIIIth, IXth
and Xth are taken for Monsoon Hiking to different
places.
Regular
Inter-School Competitions such as Elocution and
Essay Writing (in English, Hindi and Marathi), Singing
competitions, Sanskrit recitation, Rangoli, Flower
Arrangement, Pot Painting, Fabric Painting etc.,
are also conducted. These competitions are held
during the months of December-January of every year.
In order to acquaint children with subjects other
than the curriculum, the School arranges an Annual
Lecture Series where eminent personalities from
different fields are invited to talk on their specialty
subjects. These subjects are then made part of the
annual examination portions and the student's knowledge
and grasp of the subject are evaluated.
The
School encourages the children to participate in
as many events as possible. The children are also
coached to appear in the different competitive examinations
such as the Homi-Bhabha Bal Vaigyanik Examination,
the National Talent Search Examination (N.T.S.E.)
and similar others organized by the Government and
other recognised institutions. During days of national
importance, such as Independence Day, Republic Day,
Gandhi Jayanti and others, the School organises
Prabhat Pheris and Peace Marches in the city.
Art and Drawing
The School also encourages the students to appear
in the Elementary and Intermediate Drawing Examinations
conducted by the Maharashtra State. For this they
are provided with regular coaching.

Games
and sports also form an integral part of the School's
curriculum. The School provides all the facilities
to its students to encourage games like cricket,
table tennis, athletics, swimming, etc.
Cricket
The performance of the Sri Ma Cricket Team have
been excellent ever since the formation of the
team. The team is recognised as one of the best
in Thane district. The School team has won the
N T Kelkar Trophy six times, while the Kamal Lohiya
Thane District Cricket Tournament has been won
four times.
The
students are also encouraged to regularly participate
in activities held by the Mumbai Cricket Association.
A regular coach attached to the School supervises
the cricketing activities.
Table Tennis
The students have given a consistent performance
in the table tennis tournaments conducted at the
District, State and National levels. Aditya Tawade,
a student of the School, has been captain of Maharashtra
Junior Table Tennis team. The School has a regular
table-tennis coach to train the children.
Other
Games
The students regularly make a mark at the District,
State and National levels in other games as well.
Master Anket Modi has created waves by swimming
the English Channel. The students have also performed
well at most Karate and Judo events. The school
conducts regular classes for training the children
in these sports.
