History
Saraswati Vidyalaya was founded in
1981 in Namdewadi, Thane. Over the years, the
School has progressed tremendously and today occupies
the much coveted
position of being among the first few educational
institutions of Thane, to merge modernism with
traditionalism in its curriculum.
Aim
Saraswati Vidyalaya aims to guide and
inspire the students to mould their character
and develop their complete personality. The School
provides a congenial atmosphere for fostering
the intellectual, social and spiritual potentialities
of each student. They are trained to aim high,
strive hard and achieve excellence. The School
plays an important role in moulding the leaders
who can take the country to greater heights. Through
a well organised curriculum that integrates co-curricular
activities and sports with the learning process,
students get ample opportunities to develop their
capabilities and realise their goals.

All
applicants to the School are subject to an entrance
test and an interview, on the basis of which admission
is given. At the time of admission, the students
are required to furnish their Birth Certificate
and the Transfer Certificate from the previous
institution.

In
order to withdraw a student, an advance notice
must be given. No Transfer certificate is issued
until all dues to the School have been cleared.

Affiliation
The School is affiliated to the S.S.C.E board,
Mumbai and the students have to appear for the
examinations as per the board's guidelines .
Languages taught
The School conducts classes for Hindi, Marathi
and Sanskrit apart from English, which is the
medium of instruction. The School also offers
French as a special language to its students
Examinations
& Promotions
The School conducts tests and examinations at
regular intervals and the students are assessed
on the basis of their performance in them. At
the and of each term, a full report is sent to
the parents of the students. For promotion, the
students performance in the written exams as well
as their all-round performance in sports and co-curricular
activities is taken into account.

Co-curricular Activities
For the complete development, it is necessary
to develop the interests of a student in various
other fields apart from academics. The College
strives to instill boldness and confidence in
their students. To achieve this end, Debates,
Elocutions , art and craft exhibitions, quizzes,
essay writing competitions etc. are held in the
College. Students are encouraged to participate
in as many activities as they like and advance
their skills and talents in their areas of interest.
Camps and Trekking
Overnight camps are held in the School premises
to foster the qualities of sharing and caring
among the children. These camps aim at making
the children realise their responsibilities and
enjoy them as well. Trekking is organised to the
nearby hills for the students of Std. VIII to
X, to develop their physical and mental strength
as well as develop an awareness of the environment.

Library
The College's library has a wide collection of
books on various subjects ranging from reference
books to fiction, non-fiction, biographies, encyclopedias,
periodicals, newspapers etc. The library follows
and open shelf system and is designed to encourage
the students to develop an interest in a variety
of subjects and to allow them the facility of
research and in-depth study.
Science
Laboratories
To improve scientific temper of the students in
light of experimentation, the College has well
maintained laboratories for Physics, Chemistry
and Biology. These laboratories are updated on
a regular basis to allow room for changes in the
syllabi.
Computer
Laboratory
Technological education focuses on developing
students ability to work creatively and
competently with technologies that are central
to their lives. Their development as technologically
literate individuals throughout their college
life enhances their success in the workplace.
Therefore, the School provides its students with
a fully equipped computer laboratory.

School has a Students Council that is headed by
the School Captain supported by the Vice-Captain,
Games Prefect, Cultural in-charge and the Discipline
in-charge. The Students Council forms the vital
link of communication between the teachers and
the students, and they ensure the proper functioning
of the School activities.

House
System
The
School has devised a house system and the entire
student strength of the School is divided amongst
the four houses. The four houses are named after
the four perennial rivers namely:
- Godavari house
- Kaveri house
- Yamuna house
- Ganga house
The
School conducts various house and inter-house
activities and competitions throughout the year
and these help in creating feelings of loyalty
and healthy competition among the students

| Sports

A
healthy mind resides in a healthy body. In keeping
with the adage, sports activities are integrated
into the curriculum. The College lays great emphasis
on sports and has provisions for Football, Throw-ball,
Cricket, Handball, Volleyball, Basketball etc.
Apart from these regular sports, the College also
imparts specialized training for various sports
like karate, swimming, gymnastics, athletics etc.
Regular sport events are also organised at different
levels and promising sportsmen are groomed and
encouraged to participate at zonal, district,
state and national levels.

Scholarships have been instituted for the students:

L.V. Vasavda of Saraswati Vidya Prasark Trust
has instituted the following prizes:
10 gms. gold medals for the students who stand
within the first five ranks of the S.S.C. board.
5 gms. gold medals for the students who stand
within the 6th and 10th rank of the S.S.C. Board.
- Mr.
Milind Palkar has instituted the following :
- Cash
prizes : of Rs. 151/- each to the first
five ranks of the School, in fond memory
of Gajanan Maharaj Pattekar and Late Mr.
Anantrao Palkar.
- Mr.
Pradeep Deshpande has instituted cash prizes
of Rs. 251/- to the student who secures
the highest percentage marks in the S.S.C.
board exam, in the memory of Late Mr. Keshav
Shamrao Deshpande.
- Mr.
L.V. Vasavda has instituted the following prizes

in the S.S.C. board exam.

exam, in the memory of his late mother Smt.
Laxmi Ammal.

who secures the highest percentage in Sanskrit
in the S.S.C. board exam., in the memory
of their mother Smt. Gomati Murthy.
- Mrs.
M.S. Korde, Principal, Saraswati Vidyalaya,
has instituted the following prizes :

cash prize of Rs. 251/- to the student who
secures the highest marks in Social Sciences
in the S.S.C. Board Exam, in fond memory
of Late Dr. D.V. Bopardikar

cash prize of Rs. 101/- to the student who

in F.Y.J.C., in the memory of Late Gangadhar
Korde.
- Mr.
R.K. Gokani has instituted a cash prize

the memory of Late Smt. Padmaben Karasandas

makes the best project of the year.
