About
Vpm's Polytechnic
VPM's Polytechnic is located on a 13.5 acre of creek
land named as Dnyandweep (Vidya
Prasarak Mandal), donated by Govt. of Maharashtra, housing
a vast range of academic institutes. The total area
available for the polytechnic is 6100 Sq.Mts., covering
4 buildings and a WorkShop of 485 Sq.mts. The Polytechnic
was started in 1983 and is recognized by All India Council
for Technical Education(AICTE). For the last 17 years
the institute has been working very satisfactorily and
is known to be one of the reputed Polytechnics in Maharashtra,
striving hard to acquire world wide recognition.
Vidya
Prasarak Mandal, Thane is a Public Educational Trust
established on 01-08-1935 with the sole object of promoting
eduaction within the society. It has the following educational
institutes under its banner.

A
team of dedicated persons under the able leadership
of Dr. V. N. Bedekar strives hard to make Mandal's activity
a success.
Administration
The principal's office is on the Ist floor of the main
building. He is incharge of overall activities
of the college and is also the primary representative
of the college for most bureaucratic matters. Vice Principal
takes care of the Principal's office in his absence.
Head of Departments have offices located in the Department
itself to enable the faculty and students of the department
to easily meet them.
Students
are involved in the ongoing affairs of the college.
Student secretaries are appointed every year to take
care of cultural, gymkhana and literary activites.

the latest industrial & commercial activities, the polytechnic
offers full subject Diploma courses in the following

& Facilities
The
college has four departments. Each department has adequate
number of well equipped laboratories, all of which
add to the learning of the students. Shortly, internet
facilities will be provided in each laboratory.
The
library covers a floor area of over 275 q.ft. and has
got about 7000 books, twenty indian educational journals,
and four international periodicals. There are reference
and reading sections for students who wish to study
in quiet atmosphere. The library is having open access
system. The library is modernized using computer networking
and related facilities.

The
computer centre has facilities for servers connected
to all departments and in the administration with adequate
staff. There are PC/ATs and LAN connected PCs. A number
of Govt. recognized courses related to computer software
are conducted during the course of the year.
An
audio-visual room which makes the teaching-learning
process very interesting is an asset for the college.
This has a capacity for hundred participants with latest
audio-visual equipments. The facility is also open for
corporates to conduct their training programmes and
seminars .
The
institute also has a training and placement centre .
The Polytechnic is in the heart of Industrial Estate,
Thane and Thane Belapur Industrial Belt. Most of the
Industrial concerns are providing opportunities for
the diploma engineers from the Institute.
The
Industry - Institute Interaction cell strives to promote
and nurture closer interaction with the industries,
and plays a more positive role in establishing the institute's
reputation. The activites are aimed at utilizing the
manpower and other resources available in the institute
efficiently. The industries provide the necessary assistance
for satisfying the techno-industrial needs. A two-year
basic training course in Data Processing in Computer
Software is conducted. Besides, special training programmes
for the technicians from M/s Aplab Ltd. was conducted,
(during 1992-94) so as to enable them to be upgraded
within the company. Short term training programmes are
conducted for the industry personnels from:

on
various topics related to Chemical Engg., Instrumentation
& Process Control etc. for their operators.
