Electrical Home Appliances

  • Blender / liquidiser: This is used to puree wet foods such as soups, stews, milkshakes and fruit desserts. It will be successful if the food contains a high percentage of water.

  • Coffee grinder: Freshly- ground coffee is far more flavoursome than commercially available ground coffee, and whole roasted beans are readily available for grinding at home.

  • Food processor: These are good for someone who cooks for many people. They work fast , chopping, slicing, grinding and pureeing and come with other attachments which allow more specialised work, such as making fruit juice or pasta.

  • Juicer: These extract juice from fresh fruits to make freshly-squeezed orange juice or mixed fruit drinks.

  • Hand-held beater: The most useful of all electrical appliances, the beater and whisk takes the hard work out of all the most difficult of kitchen tasks, such a s whisking egg whitesand cream, beating cake mixtures and making mayonnaise.

  • Knife sharpener: Many manual models are available, but electric knife sharpeners give a better finish, without any effort. But like manual sharpeners, they are not cheap.

  • Coffee machine: These allow you to make the perfect jug of filter coffee and have it hot and ready whenever you want. They are simple to use and easy to clean.

  • Food slicer: This is used for slicing meats, perfect for large families or those who eat a lot of sandwiches. Does take up a lot of counter space in the kitchen.

  • Carving knife: Perfect for meat and accurate slicing of boneless meat joints, and for joints with bones after a bit of practice.

  • Deep-fryer: This machine offers a clean and easy way of deep-frying foods, and leaves less of the smell of frying in the house because the lid is placed while frying. Most models have a temperature control and a timer for safe and accurate frying.

  • Toaster:The most used electrical appliance , these are perfect for toasting bread, bun, waffles and muffins, allowing both sides to be toasted at the same time.

  • Slow cooker: Ideal for making soups, stocks and casseroles. The machine keeps the food cooking at even temperature so you do not have to keep an eye on the pan to see it doesn’t boil over.
