THANE:
Like every year, May 1 was celebrated as Maharastra
Day in Thane. A parade was held at Dadoji Konddev
stadium in the morning. Following this,
Thane's guardian minister Ganesh Naik felicitated
police personnel including Additional Commissioner
of Police Prashant Burde with police medals.
The
entire state comes together to celebrate this
day as Maharashtra attained statehood on May
1, 1960. On this day, the then state Saurashtra
was divided into two states, Maharashtra and
Gujarat on the basis of different languages.
