THANE:
This year, the state topper selected for the National
Indian Military Academy is from Thane. Gaurav Mehatre,
an ex-student of Saraswati Secondary School will now
complete his education at the National Indian Military
Academy. He is one out of the two students selected
from the state.
Mehatre
completed his education at Saraswati School until
Std V. He then took the entrance examination for the
military school located at Satara. Annually, 1000
students from the state take this examination and
two are selected. Gaurav not only topped in the state,
but was in the top 10 students in the nation. Incidentally,
100 students are selected every year for the school.
Gaurav
says that he is inspired by his elder brother, who
is already studying at the military school. "I
wish to join the Indian Air Force and wish to lead
the force at some point of my life. I plan to study
to join the NDA after my Std XII," he said.
Meanwhile,
Akshada Bhole, also from Thane was selected to the
Air Force Academy of Engineering. Out of 350 students
who applied from across the nation, 13 are selected
for the interviews and three are chosen after a medical
test.
