THANE: In an ongoing series to carry out maintenance work before the monsoons on the main line every week, the Central Railways (CR) has scheduled a mega block today. Consequently, several suburban trains on the Harbour and main line have either been cancelled or diverted from their regular schedule of running.
The Railways have also planned a mega block on both lines of the Harbour line between Vashi and Belapur from 11 am to 4 pm. During this period, both the Up and Down Harbour line services will remain suspended between Vashi and Belapur station. Special locals will run on Chhatrapati Shivaji Teminus - Vashi - Chhatrapati Shivaji Teminus and Belapur - Panvel - Belapur sections during the block period. Services on the Bandra-Andheri sector and back will however run as per schedule.
Between Matunga and Mulund on the Down Fast line from 10 am to 3.30 pm. during this time, Down Fast line services leaving Matunga will be diverted on the Down Slow line between Matunga and Mulund stations and will halt at all stations between Matunga and Mulund, further will be diverted on Down Fast line proper.
Railway officials admit that the repair work is crucial this time after the incident on Thursday that left the services disrupted for a major part of the day. "We do not want a recurrence of such incidents that can cause trouble for the commuters. So, the passengers are requested to bear with the Railway Administration for the inconvenience caused," informs a Central Railway official.
