THANE: The Mumbai Division of Central Railway had gone overboard just before the rains that it was fully prepared for the monsoons. The CR claims that apart from desilting of culverts and drains, measures were taken to ensure quick discharge of water and eliminate any possibility of flooding of tracks. About 80,000 cubic meter of debris was reportedly moved from various locations.
The CR also claimed that concrete sleepers lying at identified locations will be picked up so that they do not come in the way of free flow of water. In fact by April 30, the entire Harbour Line will be free of any such materials, claimed the CR. According to the CR, cleaning and deepening work of the 550 m long nullah at Kurla Shed was completed.
However, the maximum amount of water logging as reported at this spot that resulted in disruption of services on the main and Harbour line.
