THANE: An Angan Wadi and community centre was inaugurated at Ganesh Nagar in the MIDC zone at Kalva. The Angan Wadi provides basic education, games and recreational activities for up to 75 lower income children.
Children in belonging to lower income groups have suffered for a long time because they lack a quality education to go ahead and make a name for themselves. The Angan Wadi at Kalva will not only provide the children a proper education, but will also work towards strengthening their basics so that they can be self-sufficient in the years ahead.
The Angan Wadi, that was established by Dow India, in association with the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation was inaugurated on July 15. According to officials present, the initiative was for the all-round development of the children. Children, they said, are essential to the long-term development of India. "Sustainability and education are key drivers that make up the very fabric of our company, and it is important for us to share this focus with the communities in which we operate," said Mahesh Gopalsamudram, an official present at the inauguration.
