THANE: Hit by the rising scare of Malaria and other water-borne diseases with incessant rains all across the city, the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) has urged Thaneites to keep their surroundings clean.
In a press release the TMC has said water that has been stored in the open for more than seven days should not be used as it could be prone to mosquitoes breeding in it. Coconut shells, water collected in open tanks at construction sites and even water in housing societies that do not have a proper cover on the tanks should not be used as they are the perfect grounds for mosquitoes.
The release urges the people of Thane to not store water beyond seven days and if they do, then the containers should be clean and be covered totally. Even housing societies should repair their septic tanks and make sure the surroundings and even the terraces are cleaned properly.
