Q which is the best place/option to learn about interior design in bombay. (especially were actual practical issues r dealt with)
Sir J.J.College of Architecture - Mumbai, The Rachana Sansad - Prabhavadevi, Nirmala Niketan - Churchgate (for Girls only) L.S. Raheja school of Arts - Bandra are few of the good places to learn Interior Designing in Bombay.

However after completion of the course in these institutes it is very essential that the student takes up internship under an able practicing Architect, Interior designer if one wants to further excel in Designing or take up internship with a Interior Contracting Firm is one wants to enter mainstream Contracting.

6. Honestly NO - not if the entire work is carried out under proper guidance of a structural engineer & a competent contractor. However necessary permissions / no objections from the Housing society, and other statutory authorities should be necessary before commencing of any such structural modifications.

Q I m an engineering graduate(B.E instru) and have recently completed my diploma in interior decoration from PCDI unversity georgia U.S. This diploma has been a distance learning course, so even though i m good at the theory (98.61% (A+)), i really need some practical knowledge. i m really interested in this field and would like to pursue the career in the same.
so can u give me some advice for what can i do to gain some practical knowledge or can you suggest me someone or some interior decoration firm who train students like me and where i can really learn.

7. Hello Prachi, I am happy to note that inspite of being an engineering graduate you also have interest in the fields of arts.
You should pick up a job with an Architect - Interior Designer where you could develop site experience. However, one word of advice as we are in the IT age, so before you approach any office you must be fully acquainted with M.S. office - word excel - power point & AutoCad as that's the requirements of the day. 8. This is a very tricky issue that baffles and bothers many a buyers. But the builder lobby prefers to use the system #1 to sell the premises that's super built up area less loading % = Carpet Area.

Q What is the market for modular kitchens, what is the competation, in India.

9. The market for modular Kitchen is fantastic. However the best price, quality & workmanship, and marketing network are the governing factor to be considered in this large competitive market in India.

Q I am looking for some ideas on doing an internet section of a very upmarket 5 star hotel,s executive lounge.This will be only one corner of the whole lounge but i want this to look very modern and funky,yr assistance in recommending any sites would be appriciated.Thank you.

10. The only hotel in town that I can suggest to you as of now is the Hyatt Regency - Sahar Airport. I wouldn't bother about the executive lounge as such but the main Lounge itself is very trendy most modern with stack Glass walls which emit nearly 256 light shades. The manager should be able to help you.

11. Hello Parshuram, I am happy to know that you are well versed in Autocad 2000. I have not understood what you mean by studying further in Airforce?. However your knowledge of Auto-CAD 200.i will be very useful to any architect in case you wish to join any office. Pl write to me in detail.

Q I graduated from Sir J.J. college of Architecture in 1990.I have been working in a semi govt organisation as an officer for last 11 years.Since past 5 years I am working in IT department handling assignments which are not related to architecture.
I wish to come back and join architectural firm.My interests are Geographical Information System and landscape design.
Kindly advise me about the skills I would require for getting a job in Thane city.Also please comment on prospects of getting a job after a gap of so many years.

13. Very interesting - well you could take up a job with few leading Architectural firms in Thane or also with an international fame Landscape Architect in Thane. However it all depends on the requirement & vacancy in their office as well as what you can offer to the organization.

Q want to know different styles of desibning the drawing room inmy home.

14. Design is a very vast & relative subject. On a practical & execution level, Cost of interior plays an important - rather a major role in designing. Of course it doesn't mean that without spending too much money one can't do a good design.
I would put it "A practical approach & simplicity in design would be the best design for the living room as the ambience of the living room reflects the style of the people living in the house."

Q we are staying in thane Vartak nagar area.We are repairing our old Mhada bdlg.We 29 residents in our bdlg have removed 20,000 contribution.But 2 members are not paying in.What can be done to them.Plz answer my query or give me proper reponse.

15. Please try to understand from the members their difficulties in not contributing to the repairs of your building. Try and convince them that it is their home and also the home of their children. I am sure they may be having some genuine difficulties, may be the other 27 members could contribute on their behalf and may be these 2 members could pay in installments at a later date if this arrangement is acceptable by this 2 members. - all the best.
